1. People can buy vehicles at auto auctions for very low prices – this is probably the most popular and the most obvious reason why a lot of people join auto auctions. Auctions for repossessed vehicles are especially popular among vehicle auction fans. Since the vehicles aren’t usually sold for profit, they are sold for prices cheaper than those sold at car dealerships. It is therefore common to see people bidding neck and neck during auctions of ‘repo’ cars.

2. Car dealers can get new vehicles to sell here– not only ordinary consumers are drawn into auto auctions. Car dealers also frequent auto auctions so they can beginning new vehicles to sell in their pre-owned car dealerships.

3. Car restorers look for new cars to restore in vehicle auctions – if car restoration enthusiasts cannot find cars to restore in the usual dealerships and advertisements, auto auctions are another source for them to find the one car that eludes them. And since they can buy these vehicles for very low prices, They can spend the money they save on fixing the car up.

4. Auto auctions are also haven for classic car enthusiasts – another popular type of auto auction is the classic car auction. This is where people can find cars that have a timeless appeal, thus, their moniker, classic cars. Those with the money (classic cars don’t come cheap) can bid for these vehicles and the bidding wars are often tight because of the great appeal this type of cars have.

See why people are smitten about car auctions? There are more groups of people who just love being at car auctions but the ones listed above are by far the most common types that one would find in auctions of vehicles. We hope that after interpretation this article, you’ll no longer oddment about the car auction’s appeal to a lot of people.

Biodiesel takes center stage as an alternative fuel. It brings more advantages than ordinary diesel fuel. It helps you get some savings. Also, homebased production for Biodiesel is possible. It is safe to make with little risk.

How To Make Biodiesel – Introduction

Special knowledge or skills are not required in learning Biodiesel. A Biodiesel processor can promote efficiency and effectiveness in Homemade Biodiesel. Your investment cost for Biodiesel processor and supplies is still below than you would incur for using the ordinay diesel fuel, so it pays to produce your Biodiesel from home with the aid of a processor.

Reasons for Acquisition

You may wonder on the relevance of acquiring a Biodiesel processor. You may be able to get Biodiesel at your local fuel station. What you may overlook is that the Biodiesel you are buying is likely a blend.

Although quality wise, blends are superior than straight diesel fuel, they are the ideal way to test Biodiesel.

Pure Biodiesel, or the commercially available B100, proves to be more appropriate for your vehicle and for the environment.

Producing your Biodiesel supply is not a tall order. With a processor it it makes the task simple because the processor takes care the bulk of the work yielding the B100 product.

What to Look Forward to

Most Biodiesel processors are packaged for ready use. Thus you can immediately proceed with Biodiesel production. Your processor should contain the procedure which also spells out what particular inputs to comply with.

The bulk of work load is hinged with the Biodiesel, thus you should expect to only have some minor things to do to get started on making Biodiesel.

The process is definitely straighforward and quick depending on the inputs. If you opt for vegetable oil as input, expect the process to take a little time.

Moreover, with a Biodiesel processor you can generate a good Biodiesel output since the processor is made to produce only high quality fuel. You are not prone to committing error unlike in the case of using a kit.

Operational Procedure

You should have a special area just for your Biodiesel processor. Since your Biodiesel processor is not expected to remain idle it pays to have this set up and ready for eventual use. Moreover, you can secure the processor from possible damages.

You must apply the direction of Biodiesel production properly to come up with a good final output and maximize the benefits from your processor.

Florida lawmakers address red-light cameras

An issue that is drawing attention this year at the Florida statehouse is what to do about cameras posted throughout the state to ticket vehicles caught running red lights. Some Florida lawmakers are seeing red over the use of automated cameras to nab red-light runners because others appear to have their sights on the green.

One bill would ban the use of red-light cameras while another would allow them everywhere.

Advocates say red-light cameras promote safety and use technology in a helpful way. Others point out some communities in the state already have cameras installed, but many other communities want the state to set standards before they post their own cameras.

The cameras snap pictures of red-light runners’ vehicle tags. Tickets are mailed to the vehicles’ owners, regardless of who was driving at the time. Florida law neither permits nor forbids the use of red-light cameras to fine violators, but governments have been slow to post them because of privacy and other concerns.

Despite the concerns, more than 50 cities and counties around the state use the cameras.

The House Health Care Regulation Policy Committee unanimously approved a bill that would allow cities and counties to set up cameras at intersections and set statewide standards for the program. Tickets would be $155.

Rep. Ron Reagan, R-Bradenton, would divvy up ticket revenues between the state and the cities and counties where the roads are located. Whatever local jurisdictions pay to companies to supply, maintain and operate the equipment would come out of their $75 cut.

Opponents, including the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, question the claim that cameras are solely intended to keep people safe. They also say the process denies alleged violators the opportunity to confront their accusers.

Those concerns spurred Rep. Robert Schenck, R-Spring Hill, to pursue legislation that would rid the state of traffic cameras. Schenck describes the cameras as “cash cows” masked as a benefit to public safety.

In the legislative analysis of Schenck’s bill, it is written that the coffers of local governments using such cameras to generate revenue are likely to experience a hit.

His bill – HB1235 – received narrow margins of support, allowing it to advance through two House committees. It now awaits consideration in the House Economic Development and Community Affairs Policy Council.

Reagan’s bill – HB325 – has been sent to the House Finance and Tax Council.

Article…

Do you know what is the most crucial problem facing us today? One which might end up in destroy ing humanity for all times! Not only that, but destroy the world as we know it? Global Warming! I am sure you must have heard of it. But it does not seem so dire when we just theorize about it offhand, does it? Not nuclear warfare or diseases but global warming and environmental pollution are going to be the worst causes of destruction of the earth! So what are you going to do to save this planet that we live in? Start limiting pollution, of course! You can use alternative fuel vehicles as a small part of stopping pollution.

According to records, there are about 600,000,000 cars around the world. That is one car for every 11 persons and the ratio is far higher in the developing countries like China and India. These vehicles use petroleum and petroleum products as fuel, which results in polluting the air due to emission s. This affects people causing various diseases and might even lead to destruction. Over 500,000 Americans die every year due to diseases caused by air pollution. So now you know why it is so important to stop pollution of our environment.

Alternative fuel vehicles use fuel which is different from the ‘traditional’ fuels like petrol or diesel. They can use bio-fuels, electricity or solar energy or compressed air as fuel for their engines. This means that there is less pollution by their use. Bio-diesel is a great option for those of you who already use vehicles with a diesel engine. You can switch from diesel to bio-diesel without any problem.

But one thing you must remember is that these alternative fuel vehicles are not entirely emission free. If you want a vehicle which has zero emission, you might want to go for a vehicle which is powered by electricity. However, this does not mean that they are preserving the environment. The electricity they consume is produced by burning other fossil fuels most of the time.

But using electric cars as alternative fuel vehicles is better than others because of the low emission, which prevents the greenhouse effect. This means lower global warming total.

There are several guides which help you to choose the best alternative fuel vehicles. You can refer to those to get more information about this subject. So what are you waiting for? Get an alternative fuel vehicle and do your bit for the Earth!

Insider Tips On Buying A Used Car

Posted by admin on 31st October 2009

The main “ups” of buying a used truck or car are the lower initial purchase price, as well as lower property taxes (where applicable) and insurance costs. The main “downs” of buying a used car are that it’s a used car, not new — so there’s no new car warranty and you are more vulnerable to used car problems that could cost you money, as well as aggravation.

To reduce your risk of exposure when you buy a used car, there are a number of precautionary steps you can take when shopping for a used vehicle.

These Tips to Buy a Used Car Include:

Shop for newer used cars that still have at least a portion of their original manufacturer’s warranty remaining: Most late model used cars have at least three-year/36,000 mile basic warranty coverage (and often longer “powertrain” coverage on the engine and transmission). This means you’ll get at least a year or so of peace of mind if you buy a used car that is less than three years old. (Important: Be sure to confirm the used car warranty is fully transferable.)
Check into Certified, Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicles: These are late model used cars and trucks that typically have less than 50,000 miles and have been given multipoint inspections — with any needed service or upkeep taken care of before the used car is put on the lot. CPO programs are backed by the automakers (Ford, GM, Volvo, etc.) and the vehicles often include a no-cost extended warranty on major parts such as the engine and transmission. CPO used cars are usually clean and well-maintained — the “cream puffs” of the used car market.

Do a “background check” for indications that the particular used car make/model you are considering might be a problem car: One with an unusual record of either recalls or consumer complaints. You can find information about recalls and safety-related defects at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Web site, and information about consumer satisfaction at JD Power & Associates. Consumer Reports is another good place to poke around. It’s also a very good idea to do a simple Google or Yahoo! Web search; just type in the make and model of the vehicle and “lemon.” You can bet if the car has a history of problems, there will be complaints all over the Internet.

Screen your candidate — the specific used car you are looking at: Even if the make/model has a great reputation for quality and reliability, that particular used car may not have been well-maintained — even abused. Have a third-party mechanic (not one working for the dealer) look the used car over as a condition of sale. If the dealer refuses to permit this, you should consider yourself well warned — and walk away.

Ask to see the used cars’ service records: If these are available, it’s usually a good sign the car was well cared-for, and perhaps more importantly, proof (if the records are complete) that there weren’t any unusual repairs or problems. If the used car records are not available, you should be suspicious. It doesn’t necessarily mean the used car is a bad car, but you have to wonder why the seller would not have kept such a strong selling point as evidence of proper upkeep and maintenance. In such a case, it is doubly important to have a mechanic you trust give the used car a thorough once-over before you commit to buy.

Be sure it will pass both state safety and emissions tests (where applicable): In most states, this is a legal requirement, but don’t assume it is. It can cost hundred of dollars (or more) to repair a used car that fails either state safety or vehicle emissions testing — and in many cases, you can’t legally register or drive that used car until it does pass.

Lastly, jot down the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): located on a stamped plate on the top of the used cars dashboard and run a CARFAX Vehicle History Report to check for information that could impact your decision about a used vehicle. Some types of information that a CARFAX Report may include are title problems, accidents, ownership and service history. A CARFAX Report costs less than $30, and is well worth the expense.

Automatic Car Wash Tips – Evil or Good for your Car?

Posted by admin on 31st October 2009

Automatic Car Wash Tips
by Eric Peters

Ok, let’s cut to the chase – they are not evil – in fact anything that will help you to keep your car clean – even if hand washing might be better, is FAR better than not washing it and losing future resale value.

Automatic/drive-through car washes are more popular than ever because they save time and hassle. And in winter, they also save you from the ordeal of trying to keep your car clean in freezing weather. Automatic car washes can also be safer for your car’s finish than washing your car yourself because do-it-yourselfers sometimes don’t use enough water to safely remove dirt; or they wash the car in direct sunlight — which can burn spots in the paint. Or they use the wrong type of soap — such as dishwashing detergent, which removes protective wax and leaves a chalky residue on the finish. Or any one of several common mistakes can end up doing more harm than good.

Keeping your car clean and the finish looking good can also mean higher resale value when it comes time to get a new car. All else being equal, a car with faded paint and a dingy overall look sells for 10-20 percent less than an otherwise identical vehicle that just looks nicer.

So how often should you have your vehicle washed? That depends on how quickly it gets dirty — and how dirty it gets. For some cars, once a month or so is sufficient — especially if the car is lightly used and kept in a garage. But some cars will need a bath more often — especially those that are parked outdoors where they’re exposed to bird droppings, tree sap and so on, or driven in areas with very long/severe winters, where the roads are salted when it snows.

Here are a few important things to keep in mind when it comes to automatic car washes:

Be sure it’s “brushless” — Some older car washes still use abrasive brushes (instead of cloth), which can leave small scratches in a car’s finish. On older cars with so-called “single stage” paint jobs, light scratches could usually be buffed out; but all modern cars use a “base/clear” system with a thin, transparent layer of clear coat on top of the underlying color coat to provide the shine. Once the thin clear coat is damaged, often the only way to restore the shine is to repaint the damaged area.

Another safe bet is “touchless” car washes that use only high-pressure water jets and detergents to clean the car — without physically touching it at all. There is virtually no chance of your vehicle suffering any cosmetic damage this way. Some areas have “self-service” coin-operated hand washes, which are great for spraying away heavy dirt buildup. You’ll usually need to bring your own bucket, wash cloth/sponge and dry towels, though.

Watch out for the after-wash wipe-down — Most drive-through washes use a strong jet of heated air to force excess water off after the car goes through the wash. Many full-service car washes will then have you drive the car (or drive it for you, in some cases) away from the wash area to be hand-wiped by attendants. This is usually OK — provided the attendants are using fresh, clean (and soft) towels to do so. Be alert on busy days, when lots of other cars have gone ahead of you. If you see the attendants using obviously dirty old rags to wipe the car down, you should say “thanks, but no thanks” — and drive away wet. Dirt and other abrasives in the rags can scratch the finish just like sandpaper. Simply driving away from the wash and letting air flow over the car to dry any remaining water won’t hurt anything — and is the best guarantee of a no-damage experience. Any lingering streaks can easily be cleaned up at home yourself using readily available spray cleaners designed for just this purpose. (Honda Pro Spray Cleaner & Polish is excellent for this; it also provides UV protection and easily and safely cleans off bugs, tar and road grime, etc. without water.)

Hold off on the extras — A “works” car wash can cost twice as much as the basic wash, but you may not be getting twice the wash for your money. Undercarriage rustproofing, for example, is of dubious value. Effective rustproofing is applied to brand-new metal, in order to seal it from contact with external corrosives such as road salt. Most new cars are extensively rustproofed at the factory during the assembly process; further “treatment” is superfluous –aAnd a money-waster.

On the other hand, if the wash offers an undercarriage bath, it may be worth the additional cost. Jets of water sprayed directly underneath the car can break loose accumulated crud that would be difficult (and unpleasant) to try to remove yourself using a garden hose. It’s also important that underbody drainage holes not be obstructed by mud and other buildup; accumulated moisture can accelerate rust or (in the case of the air conditioning system) lead to the formation of mold in the system. The undercarriage bath should help keep those drain holes clear.

Do, however, think twice about spray-on wax. This typically adds at least a couple bucks to the cost of the wash and while it doesn’t hurt anything, it’s no substitute for hand-applied polish/wax. Spray-on “wax” may provide a short-term gloss enhancement, but doesn’t protect against UV sun damage the way hand-applied wax does. Ditto the cost of having an attendant spray Armor All (or a similar protectant) on your tires to make them shiny. The cost for this extra can be equivalent to the cost of buying an entire bottle of the stuff on your own.

Wheel and tire cleaning is an exception; the heavy-duty cleaners used by the car wash do a great job of removing baked-on brake dust, etc., that can otherwise be a real chore to clean on your own, using over-the-counter cleaners, a hand brush and a hose. It’s especially important to keep aluminum alloy wheels clean; brake dust can eventually permanently stain them if it’s not regularly cleaned away.

Finally:

Make sure your car’s OK before you leave — While many car washes will have a disclaimer posted that they are “not responsible for any damages that may occur” as a result of running your car through their wash, that doesn’t mean you should automatically absolve them of any damage their equipment or personnel may have caused. If you notice something, ask to see the manager and point it out to him; whether “legally liable” or not, he may offer to fix the problem in the interest of customer relations. And even if he does not, you can still pursue the matter with a higher-up (such as the company headquarters, if the wash is a franchise, as many associated with big-name gas stations often are). If you have a cell phone with a camera, use it to take a photo of the damage in order to support your claim. And it ought to go without saying that you should never leave your purse or other valuables in the car if you use a wash where an attendant will have access
